Special Programs
There's more going on at Lipscomb than first meets the eye. Find ways to expand your education, serve our community and share your faith—outside the traditional classroom, off campus and even thousands of miles away.
Adult Degree Program
For students who never finished (or even started) their degree because life got in the way, here’s a restart! Adult degree students are supported with a full-time educational advisor throughout their program, and most classes meet one night per week with many courses available online.
General Education
The general education core curriculum is the heart of the Christian liberal arts education at Lipscomb University. The mission and purpose of this program is to structure academic exploration in a Christian context as a foundation for a life of learning and service in a diverse global environment.
Global Learning (Study Abroad)
Of all the things students will do during their college career, studying abroad is the most transformative. Here they expand worldviews by developing a Christian-based, global perspective and acquiring valuable life skills such as confidence, independence and a disciplined work ethic.
Honors College
Some students are always stretching, going the extra mile, diving deeper into their studies, fueled by passionate academic curiosity. Here we help students be competitive at the highest levels through classes that are more engaging, experiential and challenging.
IDEAL Program
IDEAL is a unique two-year program created by Lipscomb’s College of Education to offer a college experience for students with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (ID/DD). IDEAL students take classes, go to sporting events, eat in the cafeteria and enjoy just being a college student—all while being a part of the Lipscomb community.
Library
A great university must have a great library—to inspire creative solutions and to connect yesterday to tomorrow for today’s students. Beaman Library, Lipscomb’s information hub, draws students from all disciplines into scholarly research that advances their academic pursuits.
Lifelong Learning Program
An opportunity for people of retirement and semi-retirement age to expand their knowledge and explore new ideas in an informal, noncompetitive environment, proving that intellectual curiosity endures and that learning and study provide unending sources of pleasure.
Missions
Lipscomb students understand that helping others is not an addition to learning—it’s the very reason they learn. We provide global opportunities that allow our students to utilize their unique gifts and passions as they share the Gospel through service and ministry in countless ways.
Pre-Law Programs
Lipscomb's pre-law program was created to help you make the most of your college education. We'll provide you with the resources needed to discover whether a career in the legal profession is right for you and to help you prepare to enter the field of law.
Pre-Med Studies
For more than five decades, Lipscomb has been among the top schools for premedical preparation in the region. But that really should not be surprising in view of the fact that our programs' founding principles—compassion, intelligence, maturity, judgment and commitment to people—are those of the Great Physician and are the very qualities so necessary for a successful career in health care.
Serving & Learning Together (SALT)
A comprehensive plan to integrate service-learning into the educational experience of traditional undergraduate students at Lipscomb, the SALT program allows students to connect their academic experience and spiritual development with significant engagement in the community.
Summer & Wintermester
Students can fulfill prerequisites for future courses, lighten course loads of other semesters and make progress toward their academic goals, through a variety of full-credit academic courses whether online or on campus, or through internships or study abroad experiences.
