Mustang Basketball Lipscomb boy's basketball has a long tradition of winning programs, with our last 3 coaches leading teams to the state tournament and winning it all twice. Last year's team also advanced to the State Tournament after a thrilling Regional Championship win over Marshal County. Down by 22 points with 7 1/2 minutes remaining, the Mustangs scored a state record 43 points to force overtime and win in double overtime. Yet, more importantly than that, we hope that our guys learn to play hard, grow closer together, have fun and honor God through basketball. Our goal is for our young men to be better people because they were involved in our program.
Lady Mustang Basketball Tennessee Girl’s basketball is among the finest in America. The David Lipscomb Lady Mustangs have certainly contributed to that reputation. With 20 victories a season 28 of the last 30 years and averaging over 25 wins a year the Lady Mustangs have established a tradition of excellence that both the players and the school esteem highly. Current head coach Ernie Smith, a Lipscomb graduate himself, has been coaching for nearly 30 years . With numerous district and region titles, the Lady Mustangs have made nine appearances in the State Tournament with one AA State Championship in 1986. The girls pride themselves on great conditioning, hustle, and a team concept of defense and offense. All current and former players wear the name Lady Mustangs with the greatest sense of pride.
